Scheduled Programs:

- MSU Wool Lab will discuss the history of sheep ranching in Montana and the life cycle of wool.
3:00PM - 4:00PM
- Writing Marathon with Yellowstone Writing Project. Writing marathons allow you to invest yourself in the process of writing in a specific environment, i.e. the Big Sky Country State Fair! Join us and share aspects of your fair experience through a writing marathon. It’s a lot easier than running a marathon, we promise!
5:30PM
- The MSU Library and Gallatin County Fairgrounds will hold an opening reception to celebrate the opening of Ivan Doig Archive: Voices & Vistas. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Fair-goers of all ages welcomed and encouraged to attend!
6:30PM
- LaVonne Stucky with Serenity Sheep Farm will be on hand demonstrating carding wool and using a simple drop spindle made from a CD.
Other Activities:
12:00PM - 10:00PM
- Self-directed activities with a writing focus will be available in the exhibit area
each day of the fair for attendees’ enjoyment. These activities may be completed independently
at any time during the day. Contribute to a community poetry wall, create your own
found poem, or participate in the daily writing prompt, your choice, just come out
and flex your writing muscles!
- Daily Writing Prompts – Each day Yellowstone Writing Project will post a new writing prompt for participants to enjoy. Stop by and participate through writing and reading the writing of others.

- Country Bookshelf, a local, independent bookstore located in historic downtown Bozeman, will be on hand to sell Ivan Doig’s published works and other Montana-themed books.
